On To New Zealand - First Stop: Christchurch

All good things must end, but we had plenty of good to come in New Zealand.  We said goodbye to Bali and headed for the airport in Denpassar.  You can see why we didn't want to use the driver who was texting while driving!

Waiting for our plane at the airport.  I had my WiFi to keep me occupied, but these kids were a bit more animated and anxious awaiting their flight.  Jan entertained and was entertained by them, they were so excited.

We got to our lodging in Christchurch about 2:00 AM and slept soundly.  The car rental people picked us up the next morning and we spent the day shopping and getting things we'd need for the next month.  We got a chilly bin and some food to keep with us.  I typed that just because I like saying 'chilly bin.'  :)  It's the local lingo for an ice chest or cooler.

And we got a cheap phone to use while we were in NZ.  The young gal that helped us with the phone at the mall store was rather amused, but patient, with the old folks that needed everything explained to them.  She kept telling us how many ticks we get with the various sim card plans.  We hadn't a clue what she was talking about until we finally figured out she was saying 'texts.'   They pronounce some 'e's' as an 'i,' at least to our ears.  We vowed not to tick while driving!  Oh well, she had a good story to tell her friends... as did we for our blog.

We stayed that night again in Christchurch, and the next day headed for Hanmer Hot Springs where we would spend Christmas.  Christmas in summer at a hot springs... maybe we'd wish we could crawl into that chilly bin!
